Far Reaching Ministries Blog

I’m afraid we didn’t quite count the cost before constructing a gingerbread model of the state house. After not a few hours in a hot kitchen on an already hot day, we re-focused our supplies on a nativity scene. Being Christmas Eve, you’d imagine we would of thought of that already.

Upon arriving at Calvary, the servers unilaterally decided that the nativity would be the buffet table’s center piece. That’s the last time we saw it. And I’m still not sure who took it home?

“A Family Christmas” was fabulous! So many visitors joined us that I suspect our bring-n’- share dinner was more of a late night snack. I nabbed one shrewd family with two dishes― one for us and one for themselves. All the while, carols spilled downstairs from the auditorium as members and visitors sang in one spirit the story of Jesus’ birth.

A Special Prayer

Thank you so much for praying for Nats and I over Christmas. God’s Spirit strengthened us despite our awkward schedule and the absence of team members. May I ask you to continue praying for us?

Natalie and I are very excited to tell you that we’re expecting a baby girl in June! Especially as she will be our first. Though due to Natalie’s rising blood pressure and her doctor’s advice, she will be travelling to England sooner than expected. Please pray with us that the baby will be carried full term.

We’ve struggled with this decision as I will be joining Nats in England later. But for both her and the baby’s health, it’s what we’ve chosen to do. Please pray for safe travel, as well as a tangible peace, resolve, and God’s assurance.

The Kelly's Return

Nats and I are happy to have the Kelly family back with us in Uganda. Though enthusiastic about preaching, particularly 1, 2, 3 John, I’m more than ready for pastor Brian’s return.

We believe God has put together a special year for Calvary as the church moves into multi-site ministry. The vision comes with an overabundance of challenges: technical, lingual, and physical, and cultural, and spiritual. Only by God’s mercy and the capacity of His Spirit are we able to step into 2009 full of hope.

Prayer

Again, thank you for praying and supporting Natalie and I. Through your generosity God has built, and will continue to build His church in Kampala, Uganda.
