“Come, my children, listen to me; and I will teach you the fear of the Lord.” Psalm 34:11
Calvary Chapel Entebbe has long been praying about opening a school to teach, admonish and
minister to the children of Entebbe, and specifically Nakiwogo, the down-trodden district in which the
church is located. As with the church facilities, the school has been a step of faith. Just recently, the
pastor was back in the states where he put together “Operation Container of Hope.” The vision was to
ask people to give any unwanted items that might be useful to furbish and facilitate the school. By the
end of the closing date of donation, there were desks, chairs, tables, curriculum, books, toys and school
uniforms that filled the 40ft container. We are amazed at the Lord’s provision. The school will be one
of the best in the city, reaching out to the least in the community. Truly God gives good gifts to His
children. Please pray for all of the logistics that need to happen before the school is able to start
classes—provision of God fearing teachers, a government license and wisdom on how to financially
assist the students.
Christmas proved to be a delightful and relaxing time. On Christmas Eve, we invited all the staff over to our house for a feast and a film. We enjoyed, thanks to many hands, a meal of matoke (local banana), beans, smoked pork, greens, rice and chicken soup. After filling our bellies, we watched the ‘Nativity Story’ on the big screen—using the church projector! Please continue to lift up the church staff, that they would use discernment in the ministry and excel in their service unto God to the people.
Eliza and Ezekiel both turned four years old in January. They are growing up fast and are full of questions about the world around them. Ezekiel’s little mind is always thinking and he is often asking us things like, “How does Spiderman stick to the wall?” “He has glue on his feet,” I answer. “Well, Eliza is a good climber and she does not have glue on her feet.” “Good point son!” Eliza is still very quiet. She can easily spend an hour meticulously coloring a picture. And will watch and wonder as she observes a butterfly or ant. Please pray for Ezekiel and Eliza that they will grow up desiring those things which please the Lord.
As always, we desire that you know how much we appreciate your part in the ministry—faithfully coming alongside us as the Lord leads. Please remember us in your prayers, “May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance?” 2 Thess. 3:5
