Far Reaching Ministries Blog

The Langley Family

We’re the Langley Clan, a family of six originally from San Diego, California, USA. We’re currently living and serving the Lord in Kigoma, Tanzania, East Africa.

Here in Kigoma we’re teaching at a Bible College and ministering in a church plant - Calvary Chapel Kigoma. We’re also in the process of developing a public school ministry, a town-wide youth center and related ministries, as well as children’s and women’s ministries within the church. In addition, we desire to do evangelism in the surrounding villages as well as medical outreach.

We’re here because God asked us to come and telling God “no” just didn’t seem like the right answer. He asked us to come and share the truth of His Word so that people may be set free from the bondage of sin and death, and transformed into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. We have experienced firsthand the awesome power of the Holy Spirit, working through His Word, in order to bring transformation in our own hearts and minds, and we long to see others receive the same.

In the early 90’s, we both attended Calvary Chapel Bible College, then in Twin Peaks, California. In 1995 we were married and remained active in a couple of different fellowships as we moved around San Diego. Then in 2002, together with a good friend that we attended Bible College with years earlier, we planted Grace Chapel in Santee - a suburb of San Diego. Jon served as Assistant Pastor of the fellowship and Carrie managed the home and schooled the children full time. Then the Lord called us to sell everything in the States, pack our bags, and move to Africa.

God first called us in early 2006 and by early 2007 our family was on a plane headed for Tanzania. We’re so blessed to be counted worthy of this calling. God has been faithful to bring us here and to bring us through many trials and tests, causing each of us to cling to Him and grow in Christ. Most of all we’re blessed to see what the Lord is doing - and will continue to do - as His Word goes forth and the Holy Spirit opens the spiritual eyes of those who are stumbling around in the dark.
